Citizenship & Naturalization

California Immigration and Naturalization Attorneys

Deciding to seek U.S. citizenship is an important step in a person's life. Before beginning the naturalization process though, you should identify and take steps to deal with any issues that may prevent you from becoming a citizen.

Gallagher Sandoval, P.C., is an experienced immigration law firm. Our attorneys help people overcome potential barriers to citizenship and successfully complete the naturalization process.

We want to help you become a U.S. citizen.

Call 323-297-1100 or send us an e-mail to schedule a consultation. We can explain the naturalization process and discuss how we could help you obtain your goal of citizenship.

Overcoming Potential Obstacles to Citizenship

To become a U.S. citizen, you must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Lived as a legal permanent resident (green card status) for at least five years
  • Lived in the U.S. as the spouse of a U.S. citizen for at least three years
  • Lived in the U.S. for four years with asylum status
  • Have served in the U.S. military, are a legal resident and lived in the U.S. for three years

Some criminal convictions may disqualify you for citizenship, while convictions for less serious convictions may not.

The lawyers at Gallagher Sandoval, P.C., can evaluate your situation and identify any potentially disqualifying issues. In some cases, we may be able to help you get a criminal conviction reduced to a lesser charge or even stricken from your criminal record.

The Citizenship Interview

After helping you complete your citizenship application, we can prepare you for the required citizenship interview with a U.S. immigration officer. We can explain the interview process, ask you some typical questions and provide suggestions to improve your answers.

This interview is a critical step toward citizenship. Hesitating over an answer or giving conflicting responses may cause the officer to probe deeper. An attorney from our firm can accompany you to this interview. This in itself may instill in you the confidence you need to successfully complete this step. The attorney can also advise you during the interview regarding your answers to specific questions. Our goal will be to help you successfully complete the naturalization process.

You have come to America to build a new life for yourself. With the help of Gallagher Sandoval, P.C., you can achieve your dream of U.S. citizenship.
